For native islanders Karla and Mike their long awaited wedding signaled their return to Whidbey Island and their families. Mike spent 5 years fishing in Alaska, yes the ‘Deadliest Catch,’ while Karla pursued her theatrical career in Hollywood!

One of my favorite venues for a wedding is a winery. Not because I love wine so much but because there is romance associated with a winery. The neat rows of vines heavy with ripening fruit. The barrel room with it’s pungent smells. The dusty bottles waiting for their moment to come out. The promise of a good year…

A wedding is a promise. A good one will age beautifully, will ripen and mature with subtle complexities. It will mellow and sweeten with the years.

Natalie & Jeff’s ceremony at Wien’s Family Cellars was beautiful and romantic. They shared their vows under a full moon. Behind them a picturesque winter vineyard and strains of string quartet helped set the mood!

Jessica and Taylor shared heartfelt romantic vows at Calvary Lutheran Church then headed over to Del Mar’s Turf Club for a fun filled wedding reception. We watched a gorgeous sunset and then the fairgrounds were lit up with thousands of Christmas lights! The evening ended with guests singing karaoke. What a memorable night!

Alex & Juliana had an amazing wedding at her parent’s Tuscan estate. The romantic ceremony was held in a clearing under old Oak trees. Overhead white paper lanterns swung in the breeze to the music of a string quartet. The food, catered by Vigilucci’s, was a quintessentially Italian, although I’m told no one can top Juliana’s Mom’s cooking!

Planing a wedding all the way from Boston is a challenge but with help of Adrianne’s Mom and a few trips to California it got done, beautifully. The group was so much fun, they all loved the dress-up photo booth! This is a great example of our ‘shortform edit’.

Gary ‘crossed the pond’ to marry his love Joanna at the Bali Hai in San Diego. This only goes to show that long distance relationships can and do work out! They were a beautiful couple and it was a joy to share in their celebration!

John and Nicole had a pretty garden wedding at The Twin Oaks Garden Estates in San Marcos. The century old schoolhouse served as the bride’s room and cocktail reception area while the ceremony took place in beautiful lush gardens outside. I love the true vintage quality of the place!
